      Long Description: Editres is a tool that allows users and application developers to view the full widget hierarchy of any X Toolkit application that speaks the Editres protocol. In addition, editres will help the user construct resource specifications, allow the user to apply the resource to the application and view the results dynamically. Once the user is happy with a resource specification editres will append the resource string to the user's X Resources file.

    If you haven't already installed Darwin Ports, you can find easy instructions for doing so at the main Darwin Ports page.

    Once Darwin Ports has been installed, in a terminal window and while online, type the following and hit return:


      %  cd /opt/local/bin/portslocation/dports/editres
      % sudo port install editres
      Password:
    You will then be prompted for your root password, which you should enter. You may have to wait for a few minutes while the software is retrieved from the network and installed for you. Y ou should see something that looks similar to:

      ---> Fetching editres
      ---> Verifying checksum for editres
      ---> Extracting editres
      ---> Configuring editres
      ---> Building editres with target all
      ---> Staging editres into destroot
      ---> Installing editres
    - Make sure that you do not close the terminal window while Darwin Ports is working. Once the software has been installed, you can find further information about using editres with these commands:
      %  man editres
      % apropos editres
      % which editres
      % locate editres
